2026 SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL AWARDS CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Posted: Thursday, June 12, 2025

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that submissions for the 2026 Scientific and Technical Awards are open. The submission deadline is Thursday, July 24, at 5 p.m. PT.

The Scientific and Technical Awards honor individuals and companies whose discoveries and innovations have contributed in significant and lasting ways to motion pictures. Eligible submissions include devices, methods, formulas, discoveries and inventions of outstanding value to moviemaking.

In August, the Academy will announce the list of scientific and technical investigations that will be conducted this year. At that time, individuals and companies with devices or claims of innovation within these areas will have the opportunity to submit additional entries for consideration.

After thorough investigations in each technology category, the Scientific and Technical Awards Executive Committee, comprised of distinguished engineers, scientists and filmmakers, will meet in the fall to vote on recommendations to the Academy’s Board of Governors, which will make the final awards decisions.
